SS and Medicare: Government bait-and-switch scams

Prolificlibertarian writer Jacob Hornbergerof The Future of Freedom Foundation recently took a reader to task for calling Social Security"a savings-retirement-insurance program."Hornberger insisted"The reality is that Social Security is just another welfare program."If that's true it's not the real problem, it's just the symptom of even deeper problems.

All governments squat on the three-legged stool of coercion, intimidation and fraud. Ignoring that fact makes all other discussions moot. Whether some people choose to call the hoaxes that governments perpetrate"welfare"or"insurance"the reality is that both are the result of mandatory government redistribution that forcibly takes money from people who have earned it and gives it to people who have not earned it.

Iowa Governor Branstad: Political bribery at its finest

For those who missed it Hawkeye State Governor Terry Branstad may have given Americans the most easily understood lesson in Election 2016 of the true workings of America's Corrupt Crony Crime Culture, aka"politics."

Branstadtold CNN Newsduring the Iowa caucuses whyIowans should not vote for Ted Cruz."He's opposed to the wind energy tax credit. He's opposed to ethanol and biodiesel. And we have tens of thousands of jobs and a lot of farm income dependent on that. And I know there's a lot of people working in those ethanol refineries and farmers that are not going to vote for somebody that opposes something that's so important to our state's economy."

Difference between socialist and Democrat is zero

In a recent MSNBC interview Chris Matthews asked Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton"What's the difference between a socialist and a Democrat?"According toa Fox News articlereporting on the MSNBC exchange Clinton"struggled to answer that question."

Almost anyone who isn't a Democrat or a socialist can answer that question without so much as a mumble or a stumble. A socialist admits to being a socialist; a Democrat lies about it. Democrats, in fact, have historically runthe euphemism treadmillby calling themselves progressive, liberal, left-wing, reformers, enlightened, forward-looking, avant-garde, tolerant, inclusive, broad-minded, egalitarian, mainstream and finally full circle back to progressive again but very seldom"socialist"for the simple reason that the socialist brand just never could be sold to the American public under its real name"Socialist."

Terrorist Free Zone; whip terrorism now; just say no to terror

There are times when progressives become so bizarrely lost in their own feel-good mindset that they've reverted to supernaturalism and occultism. They've become enamored with magic chants and mystical spells.

For example, following the Paris attacks that left 130 souls actually, physically, permanently dead in the real world Obama unveiled his plan to counter the murderous thugs known variously as ISIS or ISIL. As reported by an ABC News article he said,"The most powerful tool we have to fight ISIL is tosay that we're not afraid."

How is crony socialism better than crony capitalism?

A recentHuffington Post articletells the tale of Republic Windows and Doors factory workers in the Chicago area who banded together and, with funding help from worker cooperative The Working World, bought the failed business and transformed it into the successful worker-owned New Era Windows Cooperative.

Some libertarians who support traditional capitalism oppose worker-owned co-ops since they see them as a form of socialism. But that would be a false choice. True free market advocates concern themselves only with voluntary interactions, not with the various forms such voluntaryism may take.

Legal establishment continues abuse of power against free speech

The battle between rights advocates who want to inform fellow citizens of their jury nullificationpowers and the legal establishment that wants to keep all juries ignorant and controlled rages on.

The issue is a simpleone: juries have a right to judge the morality and application of a law and render a not guilty verdict even if the accused broke the law in question while judges and prosecutors demand that only the letter of the written law be considered. Many judges, as well as prosecutors and cops, take the law into their own hands and use their positions of power to silence anyone who disagrees with them.

One of thelatest examples of this practicewas branded by Attorney Dave Kallman in Mecosta County, Michigan as"a blatant illegal and improper use of government power to squelch a person's Constitutional rights of free speech."

Quote 2279

This day has been given to me fresh and clear.
I can either use it or throw it away.
I promise myself I shall use this day to its fullest,
Realizing it can never come back again.
I realize this is my life to use or to throw away.
I am the only person who has the power to decide
What I will be.
I make myself what I am.

The New Identity: Literally being anything we want to be

Is self delusion the New Identity?

When the now ex-NAACP leader and Caucasian-born Rachel Dolezal says"I identify as black"does that make her black?

When former Olympic star and male-born Bruce-turned-Caitlyn Jenner says"For all intents and purposes, I am a woman"does that make Caitlyn nee Bruce a woman?

When white guy Bill Clinton was called"the first Black president"in 1998 by Toni Morrison, who was so smart that she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, Nobel Prize, American Book Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, did that make Bill Clinton America's first black president?

Jury rights activists rally in NYC around Silk Road trial

The trial of Ross Ulbricht, accused by the federal government of running the SilkRoad"dark web"site on the Internet, kicks off on Monday, January 5, in New York City. Libertarians see the trial as yet another unjust victimless crime prosecution.

Jury rights activist James Babb issued a press releaseFriday announcing a month-long jury nullification campaign in the area around the US courthouse in Manhattan to coincide with the Ulbricht trial. The protest will feature large phone kiosk advertising posters in the area while an army of activists distribute nullification pamphlets in an effort to educate people about their rights and responsibilities as jurors.

Debunking the Daily Kos anti-libertarian bunkum

When a writer like"arendt"at Daily Kos gets the most fundamental premises of his nearly 3,000-word harangue-plus-addendum against libertarianism so utterly wrong you know there's no sense reading all the way to the end since conclusions based on false premises are virtually guaranteed to be just as false.

His article is about the rejection of"our techno-libertarian overlords."He identifies them in hisFirst False Premiseboth in the article's title and in his commentary:"We need to stop the billionaire elitist radicals who want to replace democracy with corporate feudalism and techno-elitist domination."

Libertarians want to replace democracy since democracy is just a codified system of mob rule, but they want to replace it with a free society, not with"corporate feudalism"and certainly not with domination,"techno-elitist"or otherwise, since that wouldn't be freedom.

Second False Premise:"I have never read something as repulsive as the pontifications of the community of extreme techno-libertarians funded by uber-libertarian billionaire Peter Thiel. It is Charles Stross without the last shred of humanity."

Chicken salad economics and the ghettoization of America

But taxes, libertarians know, are the skim the"civilized"ruling classes take from the ruled classes to maintain their ostentatious lifestyles and to keep the"uncivilized lower classes"in their place. Taxes, and the convoluted web of laws, licensing, certifications, codes, ordinances, regulations, restrictions and other endlessly insurmountable governmental hurdles guarantee that the poverty-stricken remain poverty-stricken.

Ferguson, racism, race-baiting and'police-ism'

If you're a hammer, as the old saying goes, everything looks like a nail that must be hammered down– even when it isn't a nail. To black people subjected to police harassment and brutality everything looks like racism that must be hammered down– even when it isn't racism.

All libertarians, includingblack libertarians, understand this. Real racism is about people disabusing people because of their race. But when it comes to police abuse racism is just part of an even greater problem: police-ism. All across America cops harass and brutalize black and white, male and female, young and old, criminals and innocents alike.
